1.0 Vision
Legacy Development Group’s vision is to ensure that people of African descent are equipped with the tools, resources and capabilities to have the agency and power to build their communities locally and globally. We want to enable our people to establish and protect our autonomy and rights of self-determination now and in future generations.
2.0 Mission Statement
To enable the betterment of black people through the development of a sustainable, self-reliant economic base; promoting unity and collaborative enterprises to improve our sphere of influence for the benefit of the black community in all areas of society including but not limited to employment, education, politics, law, the judiciary and media.
3.0 Key Themes
Theme 1: Economic Development
Objective: To undertake the following activities in support of promoting this theme.
1) Business directory
2) Financial literacy and the creation of a How Money Works Hub (personal, corporate, investment finance and financial markets)
3) Investment Clubs (identify opportunities for co-investment)
4) Business development in the community
Theme 2: Education
Objective: To establish an educational programme to cover the following areas:
1) STEM awareness
2) Maths
3) English
4) Digital Technology
5) African History
6) Geopolitics and Global Economics (Relationship between foreign policy, global economics, economic outcomes and sovereignty for African peoples).
Theme 3: Culture and Civics
Objective: To create and embed an awareness of African identity and oneness amongst black people in local communities and globally.
1) The Africa Mark: Cultural Awareness Programme. Links, commonality and expressions of African culture in local communities and across the Diaspora
2) Africa Diaspora Outreach: Educational, economic and cultural exchange programmes in Africa and the Caribbean
3) Health and Wellness: Self-awareness and identity. Family structures for community cohesion and power. Communication and conflict management.
Theme 4: Youth Club (includes Youth Brigade)
Objective: To create a leisure, recreation community hub for young people between the ages of 7 and 18
1) Youth Brigade. Organising outdoor activities, camping, orienteering, sports and the basics of drill, teamwork and the disciplined mindset for those aged 13 to 18
2) Leadership training
3) Pastoral care and educations for children 7 to 18 years
4) Counselling and career advice for children 12 to 18 years
Theme 5: Leadership Academy
Objective. To promote and embed a leadership mindset and culture; to be imparted across communities
1) Leadership Training
2) Community advocacy (legal rights, immigration, criminal justice system)
3) Personal Development Programmes
4) Peace Corps (Community Watch Groups)
